School Resource Officer

SRO Matthew Youngblood graduated from Clearview Regional High School. He earned his Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Rowan College at Gloucester County, and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University New Brunswick.

SRO Youngblood began his career in law enforcement at the Cape May County Police Academy, where he graduated from the 52nd Basic Course for Class Two Special Law Enforcement Officers in April of 2018. He went on to work for the Avalon, NJ Police Department for one summer as a Class II Police Officer. In September of 2018, SRO Youngblood was hired by the Woodbury City Police Department as a Class II Police Officer. During his time as a Class II Police Officer in Woodbury, he worked in the Patrol Division. In February of 2019, SRO Youngblood was promoted to the rank of full-time patrolman, where he was assigned to the Patrol Division.

In December of 2022, SRO Youngblood became the full-time School Resource Officer (SRO) for the Woodbury City Police Department. He is responsible for Woodbury’s Junior and Senior High schools, Walnut Street Elementary School, West End Memorial Elementary School, Evergreen Avenue Elementary School, Gateway High School, Woodbury Heights Elementary, Holy Angels Catholic School, and the Durand Academy. SRO Youngblood strives to build and maintain positive relationships with the juvenile population and the community.

The Woodbury City Police Department also employs full-time Special Law Enforcement Class 3 Officers (SLEO 3).
