On 11/16, officers were dispatched to CVS for a shoplifting incident. Employees reported that several juveniles concealed merchandise and left the store, heading to McDonald's. Officers made contact with the juveniles inside McDonald's. The juveniles were charged with shoplifting, disorderly conduct, and obstruction. Court dates are pending.
On 11/16, Aldi employees reported a shoplifting incident to the police. A male and female couple stole $163 worth of merchandise. Employees attempted to stop the couple but were unsuccessful. They noted that this same couple frequently visits the store and engages in shoplifting. A description of the suspects was provided. This incident is currently under investigation.
On 11/17, officers were dispatched to Cooper Street in response to a report of a male inhaling a chemical substance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the individual, a resident of Washington state, and confiscated several full and empty nitrous oxide canisters. A summons for possession of a chemical inhalant was issued, and a court date is pending.
On 11/18, officers were dispatched to the rear of 18 S. Broad Street in response to a report of criminal mischief. The caller reported that someone had pushed his motorcycle over, causing damage to the bike. Additionally, he stated that gas had been siphoned from it. The incident remains under investigation.
On 11/19, officers were dispatched to a residence on Myrtle Avenue to investigate a report of vehicle damage. The caller reported that someone had attempted to steal her vehicle. Although the door handle was damaged, no entry was made. She also mentioned that someone had tried to steal another one of her vehicles back in September, completely removing the door handle, but again, no entry was achieved. The estimated cost to repair the handles of both vehicles is approximately $500.
On 11/20, a juvenile told police that his bicycle was stolen while he was inside Crown Chicken and Gyro. He suspects another juvenile who was there discussing his bike and plans to speak with him at school.
On 11/21, officers were dispatched to Town Liquors to investigate the theft of an electric bike. The victim reported that he had parked his bike outside while he went inside the store. While he was inside, he noticed someone dressed in all black get on his bike and ride away. He attempted to follow the thief but lost sight of him. Once the serial number for the bike is received, it will be entered into the NCIC as stolen. The incident is still under investigation.
On November 21, a resident of North American Street reported that his son’s bike had been stolen from the bike rack outside the YMCA the day before. A description of the bike was provided to police. Several hours later, a concerned parent contacted police, stating that her son had returned home with a bicycle that did not belong to him and had taken it from the YMCA. Officers collected the bike and spoke to the juvenile, thanking the parent for her cooperation. They then returned the bike to the original owner, who confirmed that it was indeed his. The officers explained the process for filing complaints if the victim wished to proceed.
On 11/22, a Carpenter Street resident was charged with DV simple assault. Court date is pending.
On 11/23, officers were dispatched to a residence on South Evergreen Avenue regarding a dispute between roommates. The caller reported that she had been living with the registered tenant for several months. After an argument, she was locked out of the apartment. Eventually, the door was opened, and both parties were advised to separate for the evening. Since the caller was not on the lease, both individuals were issued occupant standards summons. A court date is pending.
On 11/24, an Aberdeen Place resident was charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, and breach of peace after causing a disturbance at a South Broad Street business. The court date is pending.
