On 9/1, officers received a call about trespassers entering the old Inspira Hospital and stealing tools. Photos of both the male and female suspects have been provided to police. Charges will be filed once they are identified.
On 9/2, a resident of Penns Grove turned himself in to the Deptford Police regarding an active warrant from Woodbury. Officers took custody of the individual, processed him at headquarters, and then turned him over to the Sheriff’s Department for transportation to Salem County Jail. A court date is pending.
On 9/2, a follow-up was conducted regarding an abandoned vehicle parked in a city lot on Washington Avenue. The vehicle owner was sent a warning letter along with a warning sticker placed on the windshield. As it remained on site and the registered owner did not contact the police, the vehicle was towed. A summons has been mailed to the registered owner, and the court date is pending.
On 9/2, during a traffic stop for a malfunctioning headlamp, one of the rear passengers ran from the vehicle. After a brief chase, the suspect managed to evade arrest. It was later discovered that the male, a resident of Clementon, had an outstanding arrest warrant. The driver received traffic summonses for failing to maintain lamps and for operating an unregistered vehicle and was then allowed to leave with the second passenger. The individual who fled was charged with resisting arrest (by flight), obstruction, hindering apprehension, and trespassing. He also threw his bag, leaving behind his belongings. He was also charged with possession of an open container of alcohol inside a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of marijuana inside a motor vehicle, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
On 9/3, a resident of Lakeside was arrested following an investigation. The subject faces several charges, including possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, distribution of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) within 500 feet of public housing, distribution of CDS within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of CDS paraphernalia, distribution of cocaine, distribution of heroin, and failure to surrender substances to the police. After being processed at headquarters, she was turned over to the Sheriff’s Department and transported to Salem County Jail. A court date is pending.
On 9/3, officers were dispatched to the Wawa in Woodbury Heights in response to a report of shoplifting. Employees were able to provide photos of the two female suspects and the vehicle's registration number, which they used to flee the scene. The vehicle is registered to a resident of Carpenter Street in Woodbury. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
On 9/4, at 11:37 PM, a traffic stop was conducted for a driver whose headlights were not turned on. During the stop, it was discovered that the driver had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court. The issuing jurisdiction approved a Release on Recognizance (ROR) with a new court date. The driver was issued summonses for driving with his lights off and for having an expired registration.
On 9/5, officers were dispatched to CVS in response to a shoplifting incident. Employees reported that a female entered the store, concealed $67.94 worth of merchandise, and left without paying. They provided a description of the female and the vehicle's license plate number. The investigation is ongoing, and when the female is identified, she will be charged accordingly.
On 9/6, a High Street resident was issued a summons for an unregistered/unlicensed dog after it bit a neighbor's child. Animal control has been contacted, and they will investigate the incident. Court date is pending.
On 9/6, during a traffic stop for careless driving, a resident of Montclair Avenue in Deptford fled the scene. The West Deptford police assisted in the search for the individual but were unsuccessful. The suspect was charged with several offenses, including resisting arrest (by flight), obstruction, hindering, and multiple traffic violations. It was also discovered that the individual had an NCIC hit from the Camden County Prosecutor's Office as well as three outstanding warrants for his arrest. Deptford police later apprehended him at his home and transferred him to the Woodbury police. He was subsequently lodged in the Salem County Jail, with a court date pending.
On 9/7, an Egg Harbor City resident was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property after being found in possession of a motor vehicle that had been reported stolen from Philadelphia. The individual was also charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS), breach of peace, improper behavior, and failure to surrender CDS to law enforcement officers. A court date is pending.
On 9/7, a resident of Nelson Avenue was charged with shoplifting $71.81 worth of merchandise from Acme. A court date is pending.
On 9/7, officers assisted the Brooklawn Police Department in apprehending a male who violated an active Temporary Restraining Order (TRO). The individual was turned over to Brooklawn PD without any issues.
On 9/8, a resident of Cooper Street reported to the police that someone had rummaged through his vehicle overnight, and $100 was missing. The incident is still under investigation.
On 9/9, officers were dispatched to Chestnut Avenue in response to a report of a stolen motor vehicle. The victim provided officers with video footage of the incident. The vehicle was subsequently entered into the NCIC as stolen. On September 15th, the vehicle was located by the Barrington Police Department and removed from the NCIC database. The suspect will be charged appropriately once identified.
On 9/9, officers were dispatched to Town Market in response to a report of shoplifting. The employee informed them that a male, known to frequent the store but whose name was unknown to the staff, had stolen $700 worth of Numbz Kratom. On September 10, detectives were able to positively identify the suspect, a resident of Deptford Avenue, and charged him with shoplifting. A court date is pending.
On 9/10, a resident of Prince Street reported that someone had entered his vehicle overnight, damaging the driver’s side door lock. A pair of sneakers was stolen, and another vehicle at the residence appeared to have been tampered with. The incident is still under investigation.
On 9/10, officers were dispatched to CVS for a shoplifting incident. Employees provided a detailed description of the female suspect and the vehicle she fled in. Once the woman is identified, she will face charges accordingly.
On 9/11, during a property check at a business on Tatum Street, officers discovered two men sleeping behind the building. Multiple complaints were received about homeless individuals leaving trash behind, requiring employees to clean up after them. Both men were issued summonses for trespassing and were informed that they are no longer allowed on the property. A court date is pending.
On 9/11, during a traffic stop for a non-functioning license plate light and expired registration, it was discovered that the driver had a suspended driver's license and an active warrant for her arrest. Camden City issued a release on her own recognizance (ROR) and set a new court date. The driver received summonses for driving with a suspended driver’s license, failure to maintain vehicle lamps, and expired registration. Additionally, the vehicle’s owner, who allowed her to operate the vehicle, was issued a summons for permitting an unlicensed driver to operate the motor vehicle. The driver was advised to have someone with a valid license come and get the vehicle. Court dates are pending.
On 9/12, a Westville resident was issued summonses for disorderly conduct and breach of peace after standing at the intersection of Carpenter Street and Mantua Avenue yelling obscenities and causing a disturbance in the vicinity of his place of employment, Jiffy Lube. Court date pending.
