[ARCHIVED] Crime Blotter 8/1/2025 - 8/6/2025

On 8/1, a Westville resident was issued a summons for consuming alcohol in public after officers observed him consuming vodka and throwing the container away. A court date is pending.

On 8/1, officers responded to the Carriage House Apartments concerning an unwanted individual. The caller met the officers in the parking lot and explained that she had had an argument with her boyfriend and asked him to leave. However, he refused to leave unless she returned the marijuana he had bought for her earlier that day. Upon entering the apartment, the officers discovered that the boyfriend was no longer there. The woman was advised to contact the police if he returned.

On 8/2, officers were dispatched to an apartment on Delaware Street regarding a theft of services. Upon arrival, the complainant, who works for 215 Get A Cab, reported that he had driven two women from Philadelphia to the apartment, but both women entered the apartment and did not return to pay the $71.80 cab fare. The officers were familiar with the two female suspects, as they matched the driver's description. When the officers and the cab driver knocked on the door, neither of the women answered. Both were charged with theft of services, and the cab driver received a case number for court purposes. Court dates are pending.

On 8/2, during a traffic stop, the driver was found to have outstanding warrants for his arrest from Gloucester County and Burlington County. He was subsequently taken to the Salem County Jail. The driver received traffic summonses for expired registration, suspended registration, failure to provide proof of insurance, and failure to wear a seatbelt. Court dates are pending.

On 8/4, officers investigated a reported abandoned vehicle. The vehicle remained on-site, and the registered owner did not contact the police. As a result, the vehicle was towed. An additional summons for abandonment of vehicle was issued to the registered owner. A court date is pending.

On 8/4, a resident of Wallace Street reported being bitten by a neighbor's dog. She received treatment for her injuries and was then sent home. Officers contacted the dog's owner, who confirmed the details of the incident. Summonses were issued for the dog running at large and for failing to register the dog with the city. Animal control was also informed about the incident, and a court date is pending.

On 8/4, officers responded to a shoplifting incident at Acme. The female suspect was found behind Pizza Hut, while a second suspect fled in a vehicle. The merchandise, valued at $101, was returned to Acme. The first suspect was arrested and charged with shoplifting and possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) paraphernalia. She also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest from Camden County and was taken to Salem County Jail. A court date is pending.

On 8/5, officers responded to West Red Bank Avenue regarding an unwanted person. Upon arrival, they found the suspect, a resident of Trenton, who was intoxicated and creating a disturbance outside Inspira. The officers issued summonses for disorderly conduct and breach of peace. A court date is pending.

On 8/5, officers responded to a call on Dare Street regarding a dog running loose. The caller expressed that this was an ongoing issue with the dog and expressed concerns for both the neighbors' safety and the dog's well-being. Officers were able to catch the dog when it jumped into the backseat of his patrol vehicle. When the officers arrived at the owner's residence, an employee answered the door and refused to wake the owner. Officers spoke with the owner's wife, who stated that she would try to communicate with her husband about the situation. Ultimately, the dog was turned over to animal control after the owner failed to come and retrieve it. Several hours later, the owner came to police headquarters inquiring about his dog. Officers informed him where the dog was located and provided contact information for animal control. Summonses were issued for allowing the dog to run at large and for failing to license the dog. A court date is pending.

On 8/6, a resident of High Street received summonses for improper crossing of the roadway, failing to use a designated crosswalk, obstructing public streets, and littering. The court date is pending.

On 8/6, a resident of Poplar Avenue was charged with making terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon (a knife), simple assault, and causing fear of imminent danger. These charges stemmed from an incident that took place inside his garage. A court date is pending.
