Tax Office

Taxes are due and payable on the first of February, May, August, and November. The City of Woodbury allows a 10-day grace period; interest on late payments is calculated at a rate of 8% for the first $1,500 delinquent, and all amounts over that are calculated at 18%. A 6% year-end penalty is also added for all delinquent taxes over $10,000.The Woodbury Tax Office is governed by the State of New Jersey and resolutions may be passed by the governing body of the City Council. All municipalities are required by the State of New Jersey to have a State certified tax collector in place. The responsibilities of this office are to collect all property taxes and turn them over to the Finance Office for disbursement. The bulk of the City's revenues come from the taxes collected.

If a property is over one year delinquent in paying taxes, it will go through the Tax Sale Process.

Paying taxes when due can help keep the tax rate level; unpaid taxes create a serious financial problem for any municipality.
