Position Title: Neighborhood Preservation Program Coordinator

Pay Rate: Hourly – Position is Supported by Grant Funding

Hours: Flexible. Approximately 15 Hours per Week, max 60 Hours per Month

Position Type: Contracted – January 2022 – December 31, 2022. Possible Extension if Additional Grant Funds are Awarded.

The Neighborhood Preservation Program

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs has established a funding program to encourage and promote the social and economic strengthening and development of neighborhoods across the State. It was envisioned that this would be achieved through the cooperative, concentrated efforts of residents, local lending institutions, businesses, municipal governments and the State of New Jersey. The Neighborhood Preservation Program takes a comprehensive approach to neighborhood development, which affords municipalities flexible and creative options.

The Neighborhood Preservation Program Coordinator:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the program
  • Manage District Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages
  • Manage the NPP Stakeholder Team Meetings
  • Create Yearly Neighborhood District Implementation Plan (IP) with the support of NPP Stakeholder Team
  • Develop and implement an advertising/promotional strategy
  • Assist with implementation Yearly IP Projects
    • Articulates strategic goals
    • Identifies visible/tangible projects that address district goals
    • Develops budget that reflects projects and administrative cost of the Neighborhood District Plan
  • Participate in Monthly DCA SAGE Webinar Workshop
  • Use DCA’s SAGE system to submit quarterly Fiscal Status Reports
  • Responsible for submitting Outcomes and Fiscal Reporting to DCA
  • Responsible for providing monthly updates to the municipal governing body
  • Meet with Division field staff to review program progress
  • Set up programmatic files
  • Attend scheduled training workshops
  • Participate in an annual program assessment
  • Research and apply to funding sources consistent with the Neighborhood District Plan

  • Proficient in Office 365
  • Working knowledge of constructing an operating budget
  • Educational requirements:
    • Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Planning, Public Administration, Political Science and other related areas. However, experience in administration, construction, real estate, business or other related backgrounds can be substituted on a year-by-year basis.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
  • Community Development experience is a plus
  • Proficient in graphic design is a plus
